Search for future young sustainability leaders

Help us invest in young people by nominating your next DNV GL Future Young Sustainability Leader.

In DNV GL’s recently released book NEXT, H.R.H. Crown Prince Haakon of Norway speaks of the importance of investing in young leaders. “To solve the world’s most severe challenges,” he says, “we are dependent on young leaders.”

For many years, DNV GL has invested in finding passionate young people to get involved in our work searching pathways and actions towards a safe and sustainable future. One of the recent initiatives is the Search for Future Young Sustainability Leaders – a social media competition launched in partnership with Sustainia to identify young entrepreneurs, activists, scientists, artists, thinkers, architects or anyone else with a burning desire to create a better world.

Last year, we asked people to nominate their Future Young Sustainability Leader and stand a chance to win a trip to London to participate in the Sustainia 100 Launch. We received an overwhelming amount of nominations, and after whittling it down to an impressive shortlist, we finally chose two candidates: Alec Loorz and Grace Mwaura.

Both Alec and Grace are now actively involved in many of DNV GL’s strategic sustainability initiatives.

Read our interview with Alec, where he tells the story of why he decided to sue the US Federal Government for not doing enough to tackle climate change – at only 16 years old. We were all inspired when Alec shared his story at DNV GL Sustainability Roundtable in Copenhagen last year.  Or get to know more about Grace, a passionate advocate for intergenerational conversation who led the largest-ever delegation of African youth to the United Nations Conference of the Parties in 2009.

Young Leadership

Now, it is time to find our next Future Young Sustainability Leader! We have re-launched the search for 2014, and want your help to nominate inspiring young people taking action on sustainability.

DNV GL will offer them the chance to meet the right people to build a better tomorrow. Go to https://a.pgtb.me/hVF7wF to nominate (or use this page if you don’t have a Facebook account https://podio.com/webforms/7994983/600915)

. We kindly ask you to help spread the word on Facebook and Twitter using the #100solutions hashtag!

The successful nominator will win an invitation to the Sustainia 100 Launch at DNV GL’s headquarters at Høvik on Monday, June 16 – all expenses paid.

Don’t hesitate to nominate yourself if you think you could be our Future Young Sustainability Leader – We look forward to hear from you!
