DNV GL to discuss solar finance, energy storage, and renewable integration at the World Future Energy Summit
The World Future Energy Summit (WFES) is the Middle East’s largest gathering on future energy and one that drives actionable solutions to the world’s energy challenges. Now in its eighth edition, WFES 2015 will attract upwards of 30,000 delegates from 170 different countries, representing expertise from industry, technology, finance, and government. Held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, WFES will catalyze partnerships through the Project and Finance Village, TechTalk, and the Sustainability Business Connect Program, where leading companies representing the entire energy spectrum—from hyrocarbons to renewables—will gather to showcase innovations and share best practices.
Hosted by Masdar, Abu Dhabi’s renewable energy company, WFES features a conference programme with in-depth panel discussions headlined by international leaders such as HE Mr. Abdelkader Amara, Moroccan minister of Energy, Mines, Water and Environment; Maria van der Hoeven, Executive Director of the International Energy Agency (IEA); and Sean Stafford Kidney, CEO of the Climate Bonds Initiative, among many others.
DNV GL is excited about its participation in the summit for a third year running with a global event team of around 15 people from energy, renewables, marketing with colleagues from the Middle East, Europe, and the Americas, making our participation truly global. We are proud this year to celebrate our first successful year as DNV GL. We will also talk about some of our cutting edge projects we are involved with in the Middle East including:
- Wind power integration into the Egyptian energy grid
- Techno-economic engineering support for solar PV in Egypt and Jordan
- Our wind energy mapping and owner’s engineering support for wind power in Oman
- A our large electricity end-use efficiency study in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
- Our pioneering work in Dubai to develop regulations for building retrofits
- Our support to Masdar, Abu Dhabi with a wind resource measurement campaign
In addition, we will also present our exciting global initiatives, such our joint industry projects on developing standards for energy storage and using wind power to boost water injection for enhanced oil recovery. We will also update our clients and partners on our world leading high voltage and renewable energy testing facilities as well as our strides in smart cities and the planned expansion of PowerMatching City. This year I am also a member of the MESIA judging panel to determine the awards for the 2015 Solar Pioneers. We will also have our global service line leader for solar power, Raymond Hudson, discussing innovative renewable financing techniques for solar PV.
