A framework for business process management in the smart grid era
Smart grid processes rely on more and different types of data. They also are more tightly integrated to a larger cross section of a utility’s business. This translates into a more dramatic level of change for the organization, workgroups, and individuals.
Process change projects have yet to capitalize on their full potential for success. Projects that have been left to happen organically in the past have yielded incomplete changes with less-than-projected benefits. Is there a better way to manage the change so that the new processes quickly become routine with the lowest level of individual and organizational stress possible?
KEMA’s Dean Zastava will moderate the DistribuTECH 2011 panel session “How Your Business Processes Will Change After Smart Grid Deployment” during the Customer Operations track on Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2011. Dean will present a recommended framework, followed by utility personnel who will describe the smart grid processes their companies are implementing.
