Byron Quan Luna

Dr. Byron Quan Luna holds a current position as Senior Researcher in the Climate Change programme – DNV GL Strategic Research and Innovation – being involved in Risk-based Adaptation to Climate Change. His main activity concerns the application, improvement and optimization of the use of modeling tools applied in a quantitative risk assessment, focusing on the parameterization of the models, and the analysis of uncertainty. For these activities, several techniques and tools are applied as: geographical information systems (GIS); risk analysis; dynamic modeling and slope stability. Dr. Byron Quan Luna holds a PhD degree in Geosciences in The Netherlands at The Faculty of Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation (ITC) - University of Twente (UT) with the title "Dynamic numerical run-out modeling for quantitative landslide risk assessment". He has obtained a Master’s Degree in Environmental Geology and Geohazards from the Department of Geosciences, University of Oslo, Norway. He has been involved, both as lecturer and participant in different workshops and intensive courses that have taken place in different countries such as Italy, Spain, Austria, Nicaragua, France, The Netherlands, Switzerland and Germany.
